  • District Convention

Nearly every club in the Cal-Nev-Ha district sends out their best and their brightest (which is everyone) to cheer their hearts out and represent their club at DCON. If you ever walk into a hotel in Torrance and see a hoard of teenagers chanting, jumping up and down, or just plain acting strange, you're probably at DCON!

DCON is not just fun and games though, it's also a time for elections! While most clubs have already elected and appointed their boards for the upcoming Circle K year, the District Board is not decided until DCON! Candidates for District Executive Board positions caucus in hopes of being elected. Each club sends representatives to participate in the House of Delegates where not only voting for District Board takes place, but also endorsements for International Representatives. To showcase all the skills Circle K'ers have to offer, they can participate in the talent show, which are often skits, dance routines, or musical performances. Later that night, members attend a dance, where they have the opportunity to show that not only do they love community service, but they look good doing it too! Finally, at the conclusion of an amazing weekend, awards are passed out to acknowledge all the amazing work that Circle K members have accomplished over the past year, and to motivate continuing members to aim for even more next year. UCSD Circle K proudly took home the following awards last year:

District Convention, also known as DCON (pronounced Deekon), celebrates the end of the old and the beginning of the new Circle K year. Usually held at the beginning or end of Spring Break, DCON spans 3 of the most intense days of the Circle K year. District Convention (DCON), is the biggest, most amazing district event of the year! Taking place the last weekend of spring break, there's no better way to conclude your vacation! District Convention is similar to Fall Training Conference in that there are tons of amazing workshops to attend, but instead of being high up in the mountains of Northern California, DCON is located smack dab in the heart of Los Angeles!

And of course there's plenty of messing around time. With activities like Karaoke, Rock Band, DDR battles, and of course, the dance, there are plenty of opportunities for members to bond not only within the club, but with members from all over California, Nevada, and even Hawaii.

Like FTC, DCON hosts a wide variety of workshops to help train the incoming Circle K board. But DCON does a lot more than that. Candidates for District Executive Board positions caucus and ask for your vote, and are then elected that same weekend. Club representatives participate in the House of Delegates where not only voting for District Board take place, but also to endorse International Representatives and send amendments to International.
